The 16th edition of the Indian T20 League is all set to kick off on March 31. The opening fixture of the tournament will be played between the Chennai franchise and the Gujarat franchise at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday. The Indian T20 League will have two separate broadcasters for the first time in its history, thanks to Viacom18’s purchase of the streaming rights.

The media powerhouse has made no omissions in their Indian T20 League preparations, signing the Chennai franchise skipper MS Dhoni as a brand ambassador. As the new season approaches, Dhoni also appeared in a Jio Cinema promotional video. Now Star Sports has responded by introducing its own teaser featuring Virat Kohli.

With the Indian T20 League 2023 around the corner, Star Sports and Viacom18 are battling for supremacy. The two broadcasting powerhouses have boosted their efforts to win over the public on their side after spending a fortune separately to get their media rights.

Is baar Indian T20 League JioCinema pe: MS Dhoni

Given that this is Viacom18’s first time participating in the league’s broadcast, they have been extremely aggressive. All games will be broadcasted in 4K super HD for free on Jio Cinema. Star Sports responded by announcing that their free-to-air channel, Star Utsav, would air 12 games.

Viacom18, revealed, earlier this week that Dhoni has been appointed as their brand ambassador. Dhoni was also shown in the JioCinema advertisement. The Chennai franchise player was heard saying in the most recent advertisement released by Indian T20 League 2023’s official streaming partner JioCinema, “Is baar Indian T20 League JioCinema pe, kisi bhi screen pe, voh bhi free, [Watch Indian T20 League this time on JioCinema, watch on any screen for free].”

Star Sports has replied by releasing its own promotion. In front of a crowded stadium, Virat Kohli could be seen applauding. In the short clip, the #ShorOn and #GameOn were visible. Star Sports previously unveiled the official promotional video. The video, which has KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, and Rohit Sharma dancing to a brand-new song, has already generated buzz.

On its JioCinema website, Viacom18 has already made the announcement that it will stream the Indian T20 League 2023 in 12 languages, including Bhojpuri, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, and Gujarati.Indian T20 League broadcasting rights were purchased by Star Sports for a whopping Rs 23,575 crore, and Viacom18 was awarded the internet rights for Rs 23,758 Cr.
