‘We just wanted some clarity from…’ – Ben Stokes opens up on ‘umpires call’ after India blow Bazball away with 434-run loss

English Test skipper Ben Stokes seems to be unhappy after his side suffered a humiliating and crushing defeat in the third Test match against India at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Notably, the star cricketer was left to regret some strange decisions that left him as well as head coach Brendon McCullum bewildered as India won in the third Test at Rajkot, winning by 434 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

However, star cricketer Ben Stokes has recently opened up about the DRS stance, which put the England side in trouble, especially in the second innings of the game. The great all-rounder suggested the same and even talked about it by bringing up Zak Crawley’s LBW dismissal by star bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the second inning as an example.

“We just wanted some clarity around Zak’s DRS when the images came back. The ball is quite clearly missing the stump on the replay. So when it gets given the umpire’s call and the ball’s not actually hitting the stumps, we were a bit bemused. So we just wanted some clarity from the Hawk-Eye guys. It came back saying the numbers, or whatever it is that is, it was saying that it was hitting the stumps but it was the projection that was wrong. I don’t know what that means,” Ben Stokes in a chat on TalkSport.

You’re either on the right side or the wrong side: Ben Stokes

Meanwhile, Ben Stokes accepted that they were part of three wrong calls, and that is part of DRS. Furthermore, the 32-year-old cricketer clarified that he is not saying all such stuff because their side lost the game.

“We’ve been on the wrong end of three umpire’s calls this game and that is part of DRS. You’re either on the right side or the wrong side. Unfortunately, we’ve been on the wrong side. I’m not saying and never will say that’s the reason why we’ve lost this game, because 500 is a lot of runs,” he added further.
