‘Bhai eye specialist ko dhika de’- Fans react as Nathon Lyon says ‘Bazball’ tactic was not visible during first two Ashes Test

The widely recognized ‘Bazball’ tactic may have been justified by England’s stellar showing in the recently concluded Ashes series, as the Ben Stokes-led side were able to draw the series despite losing the first two games against tough visitors. However, Australia’s star spinner, Nathan Lyon, did not seem pleased with their  ‘Bazball’ approach.

The right-arm spinner affirms that everyone around him is talking about the English ‘Bazball’ approach, but he did not see this tactic during the first two Tests of the 2023 Ashes series. The great bowler says that their batters were in magnificent form during the first two Tests, especially their top-order batter David Warner and the Pat Cummins-led side has played an attacking game on English home soil.

“I know everyone keeps talking about Bazball, to be honest, I didn’t really see Bazball throughout my two Tests against them. I’m 2-0 in my Tests against Bazball. I look at the Australian cricket team and the batters we’ve had, David Warner for example. I’ve seen him score hundreds in a session and that’s off playing an attacking brand of cricket” Lyon said on Sen Cricket.

Moreover, the 35-year-old bowler further added that no matter what the opponent’s approach is, one should play aggressive cricket. Furthermore, the off-spinner went on to say that it was just about understanding the moments in the game.

“I think there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors with Bazball, if I’m being honest with you, and I feel like if you’re going to play an aggressive brand of cricket anyway, it’s about being able to go up and down in gears and understanding the moments in the game,” he added further.

Meanwhile, Australia won the first two Tests by two wickets and 43 runs. Notably, Ben Stokes’ side bounced back in the third Test. In addition, they were in a winning position during the fourth Test, but rain shattered their hopes and allowed Pat Cummins’ side to retain the series. Furthermore, the home team won the last match by 49 runs to level the series.
