‘But I think time will come…….’ – Rohit Sharma optimistic about India’s quest for major titles
India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, feels their time will come when they win the major titles. Notably, Team India is still searching for their first win since the 2013 Champions Trophy. MS Dhoni was the first skipper who guided India to win all three titles under his leadership; however, after him, Virat Kohli failed to win the singles title under his leadership, while Rohit Sharma also failed to help India win the title.
Rohit Sharma feels his three-year captaincy was wonderful, and he had achieved everything except winning the major titles. However, the 36-year-old skipper believes that their true time will come when their side wins the title. The stylish right-handed batter feels that one should be in a good state of mind and not think much about the past, as one can change the past.
“The last three years have been great. Except winning the finals of ICC trophies, we have won everything. That’s one thing we’ve not been able to accomplish, but I think time will come. All we need to do is stay in a good mindset, not worry too much about the past, because you can’t change the past. What you can change is what is going to come next, so all of us are quite focused on that. We are playing our hearts out,” Rohit Sharma said on Jio Cinema.
Team sport is all about winning trophies, not about individual accomplishments: Rohit Sharma
Meanwhile, the star opening batter accepted that he would have regrets about not winning the major titles for Team India. Moreover, the stylish right-handed batter feels only winning the trophies matters here rather than personal achievement.
“I may think about them may be 20 years later after I retire, but what did we get? I wanted the trophy. If you don’t win trophies, I don’t think those 5-6 hundreds make too much sense. Team sport is all about winning trophies, not about individual accomplishments. Team sport is all about winning trophies, not about individual accomplishments,’ he added further.
