Shahid Afridi last month denied the Pakistan Cricket Board’s request to become the Chief selector of the senior national team. Thoroughly enjoyed the responsibility. Hope, I lived up to the expectations of the fans with brave/bold decisions. Will always be available to help Pakistan cricket in any way I can.”

Shaheen is currently out of action due to a knee injury. Last year, during the final of the 20-20 world cup he got injured while bowling his third over. His injury cost Pakistan as they lost the match against England.
Since the World Cup, the left-arm pacer has been recovering and is set to make his return in the Pakistan Super League. Shaheen-led Lahore Qalandars will take on Multan Sultans in the opening game of PSL season eight.
Last year Shaheen led Qalandars to their maiden PSL title. Shaheen has played a crucial role with both, the ball and bat. However, to make comeback in the international side Shaheen will have to prove match fitness in PSL. After PSL he can make comeback in the home series against New Zealand and will be a crucial addition for Pakistan ahead of the 50-over World Cup.
