‘India is going to benefit a lot from Sarfaraz Khan……..’ – Dinesh Karthik hails Mumbai batter after his flamboyant knock on Day 1 of 3rd Test vs England
India’s star cricketer Dinesh Karthik heaps praise on star batter Sarfaraz Khan after his superb batting on Day 1 of the third Test match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Notably, the star batter hammered 62 runs from 66 balls, featuring nine boundaries and one six with a great strike rate of 94, to keep India in a great position in their first inning.
However, India’s wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik reveals that Sarfaraz Khan was unable to play T20 cricket when he got the chance in RCB for the IPL a few years ago. The stylish right-handed batter feels that Sarfaraz Khan has been relentlessly playing in Ranji Trophy games, where he started his career for UP, but shifted back to Mumbai and made his great impression.
“He is a very interesting case study. When he came to the RCB team many years ago, he just burst onto the scene. For some strange reasons, things did not work out for him in T20 cricket. But my god, in four-day cricket, he has been relentless. He started playing for UP; he is a Mumbai boy who started playing for UP but then moved back. The runs he has scored for Mumbai have been Don Bradmanesque. During COVID, he was averaging in the 80’s; in fact, his average has dropped to 70,” Dinesh Karthik said on Cricbuzz.
India is going to benefit a lot from Sarfaraz Khan: Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik feels that Sarfaraz Khan came up with the great challenge as he was very fearless in facing star pacer Mark Wood in his debut Test game. Moreover, the middle-order batter is called Sarfaraz Khan as a finished product, which India can benefit from.
“Today he came up with a nasty challenge. Walking out to bat in international cricket for the first time and facing Mark Wood can be hard work. India is going to benefit a lot from Sarfaraz Khan; he looks like the finished product. There will be challenges, but today, he has put a smile on a lot of people’s faces,” he added further.
