‘Each of them will have to stand up’ – Sourav Ganguly names three star performers who can propel India to victory in upcoming ODI World Cup

Rohit Sharma and Co. are gearing up to win the upcoming ODI World Cup as the hosts, which is slated to take place on October 5. The Men in Blue will be locking horns against Pat Cummins side on August 8 in Chennai to commence their journey. Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Sourav Ganguly has named three Indian players who can guide their side to victory in the major tournament.

Notably, the former India skipper feels India’s stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are India’s key players who can guide the team to victory in the upcoming major tournament owing to their wonderful forms. In addition, the former Indian Cricket Board president claims that the 50-over World Cup may be the last for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The 51-year-old cricketer believes they can both play in the T20I World Cup.

“Virat is playing very well. He has looked very good in the last few months and is batting extremely well and will be India’s go-to man along with Rohit Sharma. Rohit as captain is playing his first and last World Cup. I am speaking about the 50-over World Cup here which will come after 4 years. He could play T20 but this is a different format,” Sourav Ganguly said on the Backstage With Boria show.

Each of them have to stand up if India has to win the ODI World Cup: Sourav Ganguly

Moreover, the cricket commentator feels Rohit Sharma has a superb record in big tournaments, owing to his five centuries during the World Cup 2019 in England. Furthermore, the legendary cricketer also names Shubman Gill, along with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, as players who need to stand up for their side to win the matches in an upcoming ODI World Cup.

“And he too has a superb record in world cups. 5 hundred in the last World Cup where he was brilliant. Finally, it is Shubman Gill who has that class to stand up and win matches for India. Each of them will have to stand up if India has to win the tournament,” he added further.
