‘You need to have a good plan…..’ – Faf du Plessis drops truth bombshell for Team India for Test series vs South Africa

Team India will be facing hosts South Africa for the two-match Test series on December 26 in Centurion. Notably, the hosts were able to level up the T20I series by 1-1 before winning the ODI series by 2-1 on December 21 at Boland Park in Paarl. However, the side never won a Test series since 1992 in South Africa, and they will be aiming to win this time to create history.

However, former South African cricketer Faf du Plessis has talked about the pitch conditions ahead of the game. The legendary cricketer reveals that their pitch is extra bouncy, which will trouble the Indian players in the upcoming Test series. Moreover, the former Proteas skipper reveals an important key factor for visiting sides as well ahead of Boxing Day.

“It’s the bounce. There is almost one full hand of extra bounce here, compared to what they usually face in India. They are used to hitting the ball up there, but with the bounce on offer and lateral movement, there is an additional risk at play if you haven’t done it before and are not used to the lift. The key to doing well in South Africa is to leave well and be there for a long period,” Faf du Plessis told The Indian Express.

India needs to have a good plan as to how you play the short balls with the extra bounce: Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis recalls the Test series back in 2018 and affirms that one needs to understand pitch conditions very carefully to win the games. Moreover, the RCB skipper shares advice for Rohit Sharma and Co. to have a good plan against hosts to deal with extra bounce on Boxing Day.

“I remember the 2018 series, where they ran us close. They left the ball well then and that is the key to being a successful Test side in South Africa. You have got to be patient and respect the conditions at all times. You need to have a good plan as to how you play the short balls with the extra bounce and how well you leave them,” he added further.
