‘My biggest learning curve was to work under Stephen Fleming and MS Dhoni’ – Faf du Plessis recalls CSK stint

South African star cricketer Faf du Plessis has recently recalled his playing experience under CSK captain MS Dhoni in the IPL. Notably, the star cricketer was brought to CSK camp in 2011 as an uncapped player. However, the opening batter then moved to RCB as the skipper when batting stalwart Virat Kohli stepped down from his captaincy post ahead of the IPL 2022.

Faf du Plessis opened up about how CSK helped him when he was young. In addition, the star cricketer feels it was his biggest phase of life when he worked under MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming. Moreover, the 39-year-old cricketer revealed the practical and tactical skills he had learned from the great leader, MS Dhoni, during his stint with CSK.

“It was great to be part of the CSK dressing room as a young guy. Probably my biggest learning curve was to work under Stephen Fleming and MS Dhoni. At the start of my leadership journey to see how the big guys do things, it was great. In my first season at CSK of IPL history, it was all about asking questions and observing. When you play under some great leaders you also understand that it is important to do things in a way that is going to work for you,” Faf du Plessis said.

I believe that I can return to international cricket: Faf du Plessis

Meanwhile, the Pretoria-born cricketer was asked about his comeback in the T20 World Cup 2024, to which he came up with a positive answer. The stylish right-handed batter clarified that for him, the major part is to bounce back from injuries to mark his international return to the game.

“I believe that I can return to international cricket. For me, getting back from injury is the first priority. I’m looking forward to playing cricket again. Obviously, the tournament is the most important thing, I just want to make sure I play good cricket since it is a great time for us to be still involved in the game,” he added further.
