Food delivery company faces backlash as India pacer Deepak Chahar reveals delivery ‘fraud’
Indian pacer Deepak Chahar recently took to Twitter to expose what he termed a fraudulent incident. It involves the popular food delivery platform Zomato. On February 24th, Chahar revealed that despite the Zomato app showing his order as delivered, he had not received anything from the delivery partner.
He further revealed that while he tried to register a complaint with customer support, he was labelled as ‘a liar.’ Taking to Twitter, he shared his frustration, stating, “I just faced a new scam from @ZomatoIN. The delivery boy left without handing over the food and marked my order as delivered. When I inquired, the customer care person said you should have checked the food and then clicked the picture.”
Chahar’s tweet instantly garnered attention, prompting other users to share their experiences of facing similar fraudulent issues with the food delivery giant. In response, Zomato apologised to Chahar for the inconvenience and assured him of a quick resolution.
However, the CSK pacer emphasised that mere refunds wouldn’t solve the underlying problem, stating, “I just wanted to highlight this as a lot of people face this issue and no proper action is taken. Giving back the money from the order will not solve the issue. Hunger cannot be compensated with money.”
Deepak Chahar is set to make a comeback through IPL 2024
The incident highlights the challenges faced by consumers in the digital era and the importance of addressing customer concerns promptly. Chahar’s decision to bring the issue to a public platform drew attention to a widespread problem faced by many users.
On the cricket front, Deepak Chahar has been out of action for a few months due to rehabilitation sessions after injuries. He is set to make his comeback, representing the Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming 17th season of the Indian Premier League.
In the first game of the season, the Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22. The match will start at 8:00 p.m. IST to accommodate an opening ceremony.
