Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir stuns with unexpected exit from politics, check out why

India’s former player, Gautam Gambhir leaves his political career mid-way to focus on the Indian Premier League (IPL). As he is appointed as the mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders, he has decided to give his full time and attention to the team. In the year 2012, it was Gautam Gambhir who led KKR to a title victory. He was an important member of the team, however, he went to Delhi Capitals in the year 2018.

Gambhir wrote on his Twitter, “I have requested Hon’ble Party President @JPNadda ji to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments. I sincerely thank Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji and Hon’ble HM @AmitShah ji for allowing me to serve the people. Jai Hind!”

His passion for the game is quite evident to everyone and thus, his decision to focus on the IPL is quite valid. Moreover, Gambhir joined politics in 2019 and won the East Delhi seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a substantial margin of 6,95,109 votes. Also, for the longest time, he was an active member of the party and worked hard for them.

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were excluded from the central contract

The Indian Cricket Board has released the central contract list for 2023-24 and excluded star players, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. Even though the Board didn’t give any plantation for their actions, it was quite evident from the events that happened in the last few months. When it comes to Ishan, he has been away from cricket for a really long time now.

After the World Cup, he hasn’t played any match, be it international or domestic. In Iyer’s case, he faked his back injury in order to stay away from the Ranji trophy matches. Thus, the Board decided to exclude them from the central contract and included youngsters who were in the team.
