‘Give same Pakistan team under leadership of MS Dhoni’ – Former India batting legend’s big claim on Babar Azam amid ODI World Cup 2023 struggles
The Pakistan cricket team is all set to lock horns against England for their last and final game of the league stage in the ODI World Cup 2023, slated to take place on November 11 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Notably, the Men in Green are almost out of the marquee event after New Zealand registered a great win over Sri Lanka on November 9, shattering the hopes of Babar Azam and Co. reaching the semi-finals.
However, ahead of their clash, former India cricketer Manoj Tiwari has lashed out at Pakistan skipper Babar Azam for his poor captaincy. The cricketer-turned-politician slammed the 29-year-old skipper as he continued to give place to Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan despite his poor and struggling form in the marquee event. In addition, the former batting legend feels the Lahore-born cricketer needs to be proactive as the skipper as well as have to think outside the box.
“I feel that Babar could have done better as captain, he needs to be proactive and think one step ahead, for example how he continued with Shadab’s bowling example despite seeing that he was struggling to find his rhythm. I think it is better to remove the struggling bowler if he is not able to deliver properly. It is important to have a proactive captain, Babar needs to think out of the box,” Manoj Tiwari was quoted saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Babar Azam should be prepared to modify his plans according to the match situation: ” Manoj Tiwari
The star cricketer believes that Babar Azam needs more pragmatic and tactical skills as a leader. Moreover, the right-handed batsman affirms that if the leadership of the Pakistan team were under somebody like MS Dhoni, it would be the world’s top and strongest team.
“He should be prepared to modify his plans according to the match situation. At times you need to go against your initial plans when the situation on the field is different. Give same Pakistan team under the leadership of MS Dhoni, I challenge that this team will be on a winning streak,” he added further.
