‘Trophy hi Trophy hogi’ – Fans react as Gautam Gambhir appointed as mentor of KKR after parting ways with LSG ahead of IPL 2024
Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has parted ways with LSG ahead of the IPL 2024. The star cricketer joined LSG in 2022 as the head coach. Notably, Gambhir was able to guide his side to the playoffs in both editions. However, RCB knocked them out in the Eliminator of 2022, while MI knocked them out in the Eliminator of IPL 2023. According to sources, the great batter has joined the KKR franchise ahead of the upcoming IPL and will be looking to continue his time with KKR in 2024.
Gautam Gambhir took to social media and wrote a heartwarming post after parting ways with LSG on November 22. The former KKR skipper thanked all players, coaches, and individuals who had supported him immensely during his two years of tenure with the franchise. The well-renowned cricket commentator has guided KKR to two wins in 2012 and 2014 under his captaincy. However, KKR is still searching for its first IPL victory after 2014.
“As I announce the end of my impeccable journey with Lucknow Super Giants, I am filled with love and immense gratitude towards all the players, coaches, support staff and every individual who has made this journey memorable. I would like to thank Dr. Sanjiv Goenka for his inspiring leadership while creating this remarkable franchise and for his tremendous support to all my endeavors,” Gautam Gambhir wrote on X.

Welcoming Gambhir back to KKR, co-owner Shah Rukh Khan said, “Gautam has always been part of our family, and now he returns in a new role as a ‘Mentor.’ His absence was deeply felt, and we eagerly anticipate Chandu Sir and Gautam infusing the never-give-up spirit and sportsmanship they embody, crafting magic with Team KKR.”
