‘England bamboozled India with their sweeps…’ – Former English cricketer’s hilarious take on hosts after 1 Test match loss

Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott has talked about where India made the mistakes in the first Test game, which made them lose in the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. failed to chase down 230 runs in the second inning, lost the opening game by just 28 runs, and are 0-1 in the five matches of the Test series.

However, England’s opening batter feels Team India has a golden chance to topple England, as the hosts are still seeking their first series win against England on their home soil. The legendary cricketer feels Team India will badly miss Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja in the next Test game. In addition, the 83-year-old cricketer also talks about Rohit Sharma’s stats in Test cricket and how English batter Ollie Pope stole the game away from him.

“This India team are ripe for the taking and England have a golden chance to be the first side to topple them on their own patch for 12 years. India badly miss Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja has a hamstring injury and will not play the second Test. Their captain Rohit Sharma is nearly 37 and past his best. He makes pretty cameos but has scored only two Test hundreds at home in four years. They dropped Ollie Pope on 110 and that cost them 86 runs. It lost them the match,” Geoffrey Boycott wrote in his column for ‘The Daily Telegraph’.

The former right-handed batter feels England bamboozled India in the first Test match. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. took the lead with 190 runs, but they failed to execute in the second inning, which made them lose the game.

“England bamboozled India with their sweeps and reverse sweeps and to lose after taking a 190-run lead will be mind-blowing for India. It has never happened to them before on their own pitches where they thought they were invincible. Jadeja is a huge blow,” he added.
