‘It’s good news……..’ – Harbhajan Singh on Sanju Samson’s inclusion in ODI Team for upcoming South Africa tour

The Indian Cricket Board has announced Team India’s squad for the South Africa tour on November 30. However, the ODI squad has marked the inclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson, and Rajat Patidar after their great and magnificent performances in the 20 overs of cricket. Speaking of which, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has lauded the selection of the ODIs.

The well-renowned cricket commentator expressed his happiness for Sanju Samson, who finally got the nod in the squad despite missing the India vs. Australia ODI bilateral series, the Asia Cup 2023, and the ODI World Cup 2023, considering his great records in one-day internationals.

However, Harbhajan Singh believes that India’s opening batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal, should also be part of ODIs. Notably, the great cricketer is currently playing an India vs. Australia bilateral series. The former India spinner feels selectors should give him a chance in ODIs as well, after T20Is and Test series. Moreover, the 2011 ODI World Cup-winning star feels there are a lot of flaws in the selection processes.

There is Sanju Samson in ODIs: Harbhajan Singh

“There is Sanju Samson (in ODIs). It’s good news. Wicketkeeper batter because he is always the topic of why Samson is not getting picked. I am happy to see Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Rajat Patidar getting opportunities. Deepak Chahar has made his comeback.”

“Let’s talk about Yashasvi Jaiswal. He is not part of this team. I think he should be part of this team (ODIs) as well. (He’s) A quality and tremendous player. The team is looking at him in Tests and T20Is but not in ODIs. There are a lot of flaws (in the selection process) that I can’t fathom.”

India’s squad for 3 ODIs: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan, Tilak Varma, Rajat Patidar, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (c/wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, and Deepak Chahar.

IND vs SA ODIs schedule:
