‘He put in extra effort to do…..’ – Former India cricketer heaps praise on Mohammed Shami for his magnificent bowling spells in ODI World Cup 2023 semifinal clash vs New Zealand

The Men in Blue have reached the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 owing to fantastic bowling spells by star pacer Mohammed Shami. Notably, the right-arm fast bowler had scalped seven wickets while conceding 57 runs from 9.5 overs, which helped the hosts reduce the strong New Zealand side to 327 runs. Following the win, a plethora of cricket pundits and former cricketers have started praising Shami.

Notably, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh is one of them. The well-renowned cricket commentator feels that the GT star puts in extra effort in his bowling to take the wickets in the game. In addition, the former great spinner lauded Shami for his great intent from the start of the game to the end of the game.

“He said he was sad when he dropped a catch but after that, the happiness he gave by picking up two wickets in an over, he made up for it. He put in extra effort to do that, which we have seen in every spell Shami has bowled. From the first match until now, whenever he comes on to bowl, it seems like the ball will do something. There is an intent to pick up wickets. When he was bowling the last over as well, he was bowling with that same intent,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.

Mohammed Shami should be given 12 out of 10 for commitment: Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh also felt his commitment was at the epitome of the level, which helped him bowl fantastically in the game. Moreover, the 43-year-old cricketer was extremely ecstatic, as Shami now has 23 wickets from just six matches, as he missed the first four matches due to the availability of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the game.

“He should be given 12 out of 10 for commitment because he has bowled fantastically. The rhythm he has gathered has been unbelievable. To pick up 23 wickets in a World Cup, didn’t play in the first few matches, and then to give a performance like that,” he added further.
