‘He’s made a fantastic start…..’ – Former England skipper heaps praise on India star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal
India star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal recently received his India T20I cap on August 8 owing to his stellar performance in the recently concluded IPL 2023, where the 21-year-old batter hammered 625 runs from just 14 innings with a solid strike rate of 160. In addition, the young batter smashed 171 runs during his Test debut and accumulated 266 runs in both Tests against the West Indies.
Notably, the left-handed batter has been receiving praise from cricket pundits for his exploits in his Test debut so far. Speaking on the same subject, former English cricketer Nasser Hussain praised India’s opener. In addition, the former England skipper says that the young India batter had a fantastic start to his career, and every cricket analyst, including Ricky Ponting and Dinesh Kartik are praising him.
“From what I’ve seen, he’s made a fantastic start. You speak to people who have seen him in the IPL, again I’ve been working with Ricky (Ponting) and Dinesh (Karthik) came over, and you ask questions, and they all go, ‘yeah, this lad can play,” Nasser Hussain said, being quoted by NDTV Sports.

Moreover, the former cricketer turned analyst affirms that India’s young batter possesses solid batting techniques as well as a great mindset towards the game. In addition, the former top-order batter says that the Rajasthan Royals batter had immediate success, which is a great sign for first-class cricket not only for the IPL but for all tournaments.
“He looks to have the technique and he looks to have that mindset. Like most young Indian players and batters in particular, most of them come in and have immediate success. And that is a good sign for first-class cricket, that they are being produced, not just the IPL,” he added further.
Meanwhile, the Hardik Pandya-led side will be locking horns against the West Indies on August 12 for the fourth T20I match. Notably, it will be interesting to see whether Yashasvi Jaiswal will be part of the playing 11 during the match or not, as he was dismissed for just 1 run during his debut T20I match.
