‘I always find it difficult to explain my relationship’ – Rishabh Pant talks about his relationship with MS Dhoni

Rishabh Pant, India’s one of the most fearless batters, is recovering from the car accident that took place in 2022. While talking to the Star Sports series Pant opened up about his relationship with MS Dhoni. Just like every other cricketer, Dhoni is a role model for Pant as well. As a player, he has learnt a lot from him as they both are wicket-keepers and share a lot of things in common. Pant admitted that he shares everything with Dhoni and discusses his game.

Pant said, “I always find it difficult to explain my relationship with MS. Dhoni. There are some with whom you can talk freely. I discuss everything with MSD. I have learned so much from him. Also, I discuss things with him that I wouldn’t discuss with anybody else. That’s the kind of relationship (I have) with him.”

Dhoni has been Pant’s go-to guy for everything from keeping advice to finishing techniques to life skills. And that speaks volumes about their relationship. Before the terrible crash turned things ugly, Pant, who was unquestionably India’s greatest game-changer in Test cricket, admitted that he was honestly perplexed by the comparisons to Dhoni.

‘First of all, I didn’t understand why questions were raised’ – Rishabh Pant talks about the constant comparison between him and Dhoni

There was a time when Rishabh Pant was constantly compared to MS Dhoni. Be it batting or keeping, the comparisons never stopped. There were times when the fans went way ahead of their limits and that frustrated Pant as he was young. He spoke on the Star Sports series about his thoughts on the comparison to his idol.

Pant said, “First of all, I didn’t understand why questions were raised. I had just made it to the team, and people were talking about being a replacement. Why were people raising such questions at a youngster? Why are you comparing? There shouldn’t be any comparison at all. Some have played five matches and the others have played 500. It’s been such a long journey, so many ups and downs, so the comparison is not fair.”
