‘ I would like to be able to go out on a nice note’- James Anderson speaks on his retirement plans

There have been a lot of top pacers in the England team who have given us some great performances in the Test format. The likes of Stuart Broad and Matthew Hoggard are some of the most iconic names that come to our mind when about this format of the game. The seaming conditions of England have built some of the best pacers in the world. One of the pacers among them is James Anderson. The 41-year-old pacer is currently playing in the Test series vs India, where he has already given a great performance for his side in the 2nd Test at Visakhapatnam.

James Anderson is currently the highest wicket-taker in the international format for England with 696 of his wickets coming in Test matches. Anderson also has played the most Test matches for England with 185 games to his name as well. He is currently known as the best pacer in international cricket right now and has given great performances in his 11-year career. The art of swing and seam bowling is something no bowler has come close to the great Lancashire pacer. Anderson will go down as one of the best pacers England has ever produced.

Retirement plans for Jimmy

Anderson is in his 40s and for somebody to be an active cricketer at this age is still something to appreciate. However, the retirement talks will continue around the player on when he wishes to retire from the game. The legendary pacer has opened up on this talk saying “ I would like to be able to go out on a nice note. I don’t want to drag it out.” Anderson also mentioned the way England World winning skipper Eoin Morgan also retired from the game saying he knew when it was time for him to call it a day.

Anderson further stated that he would like to retire on his terms stating that he feels privileged to be in the position he is in especially for a fast bowler and his selection is not affected by injury or any other circumstances. He ended his statement by saying, “ It will be nice to go out on my terms, but when that will be, you just have to wait and see.” This shows that the pacer has a clear plan on how he wants to leave the game and it will be his own decision which everyone will respect when he finally announces it.
