‘If anyone can do it, it’s Virat Kohli’ – India’s World Cup winning member claims Virat Kohli can break the biggest record in International cricket

Former India skipper Virat Kohli went on to score the 28th Test century of his international career after a long gap of 1205 days in the fourth and final Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Sunday, March 12. The last century he scored was back in November 2019, in the pink-ball Test match against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, which was also India’s first-ever Day-Night Test for the Rohit Sharma-led side. There, he scored 139 runs against the Bangla Tigers.

Kohli scored the 75th ton of his International career on Sunday. After Sachin Tendulkar, he is the only other batter in history to achieve that milestone. It is predicted that Kohli will surpass Tendulkar’s incredible record of 100 centuries in international cricket. Although the 34-year-old still needs 25 hundreds to complete that record. Many former cricketers are of the opinion that Kohli won’t have any trouble getting there because of his physical fitness.

You might think I’m going overboard with this, but it is certainly possible: Harbhajan Singh

Veteran Indian spinner, Harbhajan Singh opines that Kohli can surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries. The former off-spinner claimed that Kohli has the physical stamina of a “24-year-old cricketer” in an interview with Sports Tak on Sunday.

“It’s certainly possible. I think he can score more than that (100 centuries). Two things favour Virat here; his age, and his fitness. He’s 34 but his fitness is that of a 24-year-old cricketer. He’s way ahead in that aspect. He has already scored 75 centuries, he can score at least 50 more. He knows his game and he plays all formats,” former Indian spinner was quoted as saying on Sports Tak.

“You might think I’m going overboard with this, but it is certainly possible. If anyone can do it, it’s Virat Kohli. Rest all are far behind him. He knew he had to work on his fitness because his batting abilities are god-gifted. I don’t think he will stop from here. There are no technical faults, and even if they are, he works on them and rectifies them. Since his return (after a break), he has already scored five centuries. This is pretty much a comeback for him,” the 42-year-old added.
