‘If we’ve created this problem…’- Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh start Social Media movement after Google fails to recognise Harmanpreet Kaur as India captain
Women in Blue skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has led her side to the semi-finals of the 20-20 World Cup, which will be played against Australia on Thursday, February 23 at the Newlands, Cape Town. The mega event is taking place in South Africa and the tournament’s final will be played on Sunday, February 26 at the Newlands, Cape Town. Kaur has become the first player to play 150 T20Is and the fourth overall to score 3000 T20I runs.
Former Indian all-rounders Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina have come in support of Kaur after they found out how a google search about the Indian cricket team captain only reveals the men’s team skippers Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, while unfairly ignoring the women’s team skipper.
Yuvraj asserted that this problem needs to be solved as soon as possible and women’s cricket should also get the same popularity that the men’s team gets. “If we’ve created this problem, we also have the power to fix it. One of the best batters in the world, Kaur has led the Indian Women’s Cricket team to several victories. She served as the team’s captain when India won the Asia Cup and a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. She has featured in 124 ODIs in all, scoring 3322 runs at an average of 37.75 and taking 31 wickets. The right-handed batter has 3006 runs in T20 Internationals at an average of 27.83 and has snapped 32 wickets.
