IND vs PAK ODI World Cup 2023: Security arrangements include 7000 security personnel and 4000 home guards

India and Pakistan are all set to lock horns on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi cricket stadium in Ahemdabad for the ODI World Cup 2023 clash. Notably, the Pakistan team is currently in Hyderabad and will reach Ahemdabad after their ongoing clash against Sri Lanka on October 10 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

However, security will be tight for the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan of the ODI World Cup 2023 in Ahemdabad on October 14. Notably, more than 7,000 policemen will be there, along with 4,000 home guards, to secure the venue and play on October 14. In addition, the sources reveal that there will be a special team for bomb detection and anti-drones after they receive the threats.

“Along with more than 7,000 police personnel, we will deploy nearly 4,000 home guards to secure the stadium and to maintain law and order in communally sensitive areas of the city during the match. In addition to these personnel, we will deploy three ‘hit teams’ and one anti-drone team of the NSG. Nine teams of our bomb detection and disposal squad will also be utilized,” an official source said on Cricbuzz.

India and Pakistan met twice in the 2023 Asia Cup

The sources also say that, apart from the police, there will be a plethora of companies, such as the RAF and SRP, to maintain security during the play. Notably, both countries face geopolitical tensions, which cause them to arrange extra security in the game.

“Apart from 13 companies of the state reserve police (SRP), we will deploy three companies of Rapid Action Force as part of our security setup. The RAF will keep a watch on communally sensitive areas of the city,” it added further.

Meanwhile, both sides met twice in the 2023 Asia Cup. The first match in the group stage was washed out after rain halted the play. However, Babar Azam and Co. suffered a historic loss against India in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023, which puts them at number four in the points table of the Asia Cup 2023. Notably, Team India bagged the title, defeating the Sri Lankan side during the play.
