India’s women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur achieves massive milestone, surpasses Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

The women’s 20-20 World Cup is currently going on in South Africa. Australia and England have been invincible till now in the tournament and have booked their place in the final four of the competition. India also booked their place in the knockout stages of the tournament with a win over Ireland yesterday night.

What is the record that Harmanpreet Kaur has broken?

Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian team captain became the first player in the world to participate in 150 T20I matches upon taking the field at toss prior to the start of the match against Ireland in their final league game of the 20-20 World Cup

Suzie Bates of New Zealand is the second-best player in women’s cricket in this format who has 143 appearances, and Smriti Mandhana of India is the top player after her with 115 appearances.

Rohit leads all male cricketers with 148 appearances for India since making his debut in the sport in 2007. In the Women’s T20 World Cup match against the West Indies, Harmanpreet had accomplished the same accomplishment as Rohit; however, this week, when she played for England, she outperformed him.

At the toss, the presenter reminded the skipper about the milestone she had achieved and congratulated her. The captain said, “It means a lot, I got an emotional message from my team-mates. Thanks to BCCI and ICC, we are able to play so many games.”

India has advanced to the semifinals of the Women’s 20-20 World Cup 2023, joining Australia and England as the third team to do so. On Monday, February 20, at St. George’s Park, the Ladies in Blue, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, defeated Laura Delany’s Ireland by five runs (DLS Method).

Currently, India holds the second-place spot in Group B’s points standings with six points and a net run rate of +0.253. As Pakistan must defeat Australia by a wide margin in their upcoming match for England to lose second place in the standings, India’s chances of facing Australia in the semifinals are rather good.
