‘If every country gets Jasprit Bumrah, Test cricket will….’ – Former India cricketers lauds India’s star bowler following South Africa’s tour
Team India recently won the second Test match against South Africa and levelled up the series by 1-1. Notably, the visiting sides bounced back magnificently in the series after losing the first Test game poorly. However, India’s star cricketer, Jasprit Bumrah, was the star of the Test, as he picked up 12 wickets. Meanwhile, former India cricketers Irfan Pathan and Sunil Gavaskar have heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah following his Player of the Series award.
Irfan Pathan was elated at how Bumrah performed after his surgery. In addition, the well-renowed cricket commentator feels the 29-year-old cricketer is not only the inspiration for Indian cricket, but he is also the inspiration for world cricket with his comeback in Test cricket after surgery. Moreover, the former India all-rounder feels Test cricket will flourish with players like Bumrah in the team.
“I have fallen in love with Jasprit Bumrah’s attitude, especially the way he has bowled after back surgery. He is not only an inspiration for Indian cricket but also for world cricket. If you are prioritizing red-ball cricket even after surgery, you won’t get a bigger brand ambassador than him in bowling. If every country gets a bowler like Jasprit Bumrah, Test cricket will keep flourishing,” Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports.
Jasprit Bumrah shows very good application in batting as well: Sunil Gavaskar
However, former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar affirms that the Mumbai Indians star keeps improving each day. The legendary cricketer feels Bumrah has extremely great bowling action, which makes him so unique and exceptional.
“I don’t know Bumrah as a person but as a cricketer, he wants to make himself a better cricketer every day. It’s difficult to bowl outswing with his action but the way he is bowling outswing now, how much effort he would have put in. He has the slower bouncer as well. He shows very good application in batting as well. He went as a nigh watchman in Australia,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
