‘No, he hasn’t contacted us or told us..’ – Ishan Kishan refuses to follow Rahul Dravid’s instructions
Team India is currently playing the T20I series against Afghanistan. However, the recently announced squad has marked the notable omission of Ishan Kishan in the T20I game, which raises concerns about his future. Notably, it was reported that the left-handed batter opted for a break from the South Africa tour while citing mental fatigue reasons.
However, there were earlier perceptions that Ishan Kishan was ignored due to some disciplinary action. Meanwhile, Team India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, refuted claims ahead of the series while clarifying that the young batter wasn’t available for selection in the three matches of the T20I series. Moreover, the former India skipper also clarified that Shreyas Iyer was also not picked up due to the plethora of players in the squad for the ongoing T20I series.
“No, Absolutely not (no disciplinary action). Ishan Kishan was not available for selection. Ishan Kishan requested a break in South Africa, which we agreed to support, and recognized. He has not yet made himself available for selection. I am sure when he is available, he will play domestic cricket and make himself available for selection. Shreyas Iyer’s case has absolutely nothing to do with any disciplinary issue. It is just that he missed out. There are a lot of batsmen in the team. He did not play in the T20s in the SA as well,” Rahul Dravid said during the pre-match press conference ahead of the first India vs Afghanistan T20I.
Ishan Kishan hasn’t contacted us or told us anything about his availability: Debasish Chakraborty
Meanwhile, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary Debasish Chakraborty revealed that Ishan Kishan has not contacted them to play in the ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy. Moreover, this news claims that Kishan refused to follow Rahul Dravid’s instruction to play domestic games to mark his comeback in the international squad.
“No, Ishan hasn’t contacted us or told us anything about his availability. Whenever he tells us, he will walk into the playing XI,” Debasish Chakraborty told PTI.
