‘Isiliye tum selector nahin ho’ – Fans react as Suresh Raina says he’d sign Yashasvi Jaiswal for ODI World Cup 2023 if he were selector

The 56th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 saw a brilliant batting performance by Rajasthan Royals (RR) young opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal who played a breathtaking knock of 98 runs off just 47 deliveries which included 13 fours and 5 sixes and helped his team to register a convincing victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 9 wickets at the Eden Gardens.

Jaiswal is in red-hot form in the tournament as he is currently standing on the no. 2 spot of the Orange Cap list with just 1 run less than Faf du Plessis who has scored 576 runs in 11 matches while Jaiswal took 12 runs to score 575 runs. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina heaped praise on Jaiswal for his brilliant knock against KKR and gave a big statement as he said that he’d have signed Jaiswal after that knock for the upcoming ODI World Cup.

“If I was the Indian selector, I would have signed him today itself for the World Cup because he is in a very fresh mind. He reminds me of Virender Sehwag. I’m sure Rohit Sharma will be watching this because he will be searching for batters like him for the World Cup,” Raina said on Jio Cinema.

The pressure is never off in the IPL: Yashasvi Jaiswal

Talking about the match, RR won the toss and opted to bowl first, the decision proved right as they restricted KKR on the score of just 149 runs with the help of a brilliant bowling performance by Yuzvendra Chahal as he picked up 4 wickets in the match and also became the all-time highest wicket-taker of IPL with 183 wickets. Chasing target, RR took only 13.1 overs to achieve the target. Apart from Jaiswal, skipper Sanju Samson also played an unbeaten knock of 48 runs off just 29 balls. Here’s what Jaiswal said after the match.

“I didn’t have to do anything today. Just put the bat on the ball and watch him play. We are used to it now, even the bowlers know how he goes in the powerplay. He enjoys batting in the power play. We have two more quarter-finals to play, the pressure is never off in the IPL. Each game, each over is important. You can sense how the atmosphere is when a legend like Jos Buttler throws his wicket away for Jaiswal. Very happy today but we have a few more matches to go.”
