‘It hurt when that went for a six’ – Haris Rauf recalls when Virat Kohli slammed him for a six in the 20-20 World Cup 2022

Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf claimed that Virat Kohli’s straight six off his length delivery left him stunned and that the incident still hurts him. The incident occurred at the MCG during the highly anticipated 20-20 World Cup 2022 match between India and Pakistan.

With 28 needed off eight deliveries for India in the penultimate over of the match, Pakistan appeared to be in control. But Kohli’s exquisite six off a Rauf ball changed the flow in the Men in Blue’s favor.

I don’t think he can do that again: Haris Rauf

“Of course, it hurt when that went for a six. I didn’t say anything but it hurt me personally. I thought something wrong had happened,” Haris said while speaking on a Pakistan show, ‘Hasna Mana Hai’.

“Anyone who knows cricket knows what sort of a player he is. He has played that shot now; I don’t think he can do that again. Such shots are quite rare, you can’t hit them again and again. His timing was perfect and it went for a six,” he added.

While Rauf was able to silence Kohli during the India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 match, it was the legendary batsman who emerged victorious at the crucial moment.

India was in trouble at 31/4 while chasing 160, and that’s when Kohli and Hardik Pandya performed the heroics with a 113-run stand for the fifth wicket. Even though Pandya got out in the very last over, Kohli remained undefeated with 82 runs off 53 deliveries despite Pandya’s dismissal. In the end, Ravichandran Ashwin lofted Mohammad Nawaz over mid-off to score the winning runs off the last ball.

In 2020, Haris Rauf represented Pakistan for the first time in Cricket. Lahore Qalandars, who played in the Pakistan Super League in 2018, were the first team to acquire him. His amazing speed immediately drew everyone’s attention.

Haris Rauf was a member of the Pakistani team that placed second at the 2022 World Cup. He was the outstanding bowler for his side, along with Shaheen Afridi. Before getting hurt, he recently competed in his first Test match in Rawalpindi against England.
