‘It was a shock, if you call it…….’ – Mitchell Starc opens up on becoming costliest IPL auction buy
Australia’s star cricketer, Mitchell Starc, created history as he became the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League. Notably, the left-arm pacer was sold to the Kolkata Knight Riders for 24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 mini-auction, which took place on December 19 in Dubai. However, after acquiring him, KKR released a wonderful video featuring the Aussie star.
Mitchell Starc seemed extremely thrilled to join KKR for the IPL 2024. In addition, the 33-year-old cricketer expressed his happiness by saying he couldn’t wait to visit and enjoy during the IPL season at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The great seamer also spoke about how much he is looking forward to experience being a part of the KKR team.
“Hey, KKR fans; I’m thrilled to be joining the team for this year’s IPL. And I can’t wait to get to Eden Gardens to experience the home fans, the home crowd and the atmosphere. I look forward to seeing you then. Ami KKR. I’m really excited to get my name in the auction and to be joining KKR this upcoming season,” Mitchell Starc said in a video that was uploaded on X (formerly known as Twitter).
I think their coverage was slightly ahead of mine in Australia: Mitchell Starc
The South Wales-born cricketer revealed that he was totally shocked after getting to know his selling price. Mitchell Starc also says that he was extremely thrilled to come to India, and his wife Healy is currently in India for the one-off Test game. The three ODI series is slated to begin on December 21 at Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai.
“Yeah, it was a shock, if you call it. But, my wife, Alyssa Healy, is actually over in India with the women’s team. And I think their coverage was slightly ahead of mine in Australia. So, I was getting updates before I could see it on the screen. So, yeah, just as I said, pretty well, surprised, but, thrilled to be back involved in the IPL this coming season. And, yeah, really excited to be joining KKR,” he added further.
