‘It’s my responsibility’ – Jasprit Bumrah talks about guiding young bowlers in Test team
In the 2nd Test match against England, India won the match by 106 runs and levelled the series, 1-1. The match did take an interesting turn when England started their second innings with the Bazball approach. But as they kept losing wickets, the match drifted away from them. The hero of the match was Jasprit Bumrah who took nine wickets in the match. Moreover, he also won the Player of the Match award. At the post-match presentation, he talked about India’s transition phase and how he helps the young bowlers whenever they need him.
“We’re going through a transition so I feel it’s my responsibility to help them in any way I can. As I said before, I don’t look at numbers. As a youngster, I did that and it made me excited. But now it’s added baggage as you are already playing for India. I used to think that it was the only way to get wickets. I had seen the legends of the game. Waqar, Wasim and even Zaheer Khan, ” said Bumrah.
To dismiss Ollie Pope and Joe Root in the first innings, Bumrah bowled two beautiful balls. The world-class batters were clueless about how to play the ball and gave away their wicket. Even though a lot of things happened in the match, Bumrah’s bowling remained at the top.
‘Wonderful feeling really enjoyed the game’ – Yashasvi Jaiswal elated about his performance in 2nd Test match
The 22-year-old double centurion, Yashasvi Jaiswal is quite happy with his performance in the 2nd Test match against England. After scoring 209 runs off 290 balls, he extended his gratitude to Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid for helping and motivating him throughout the match. He also talked about Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling and how the pitch acted throughout the Test match.
Jaiswal said, “Wonderful feeling, really enjoyed the game. One of the best moments to win a game for your country. We were just focusing on our process, focused on our fielding and I think it went well. (On pitch) There was a bit of crack and there was some seam movement, so it was a bit hard to play in the fourth innings. The way Bumrah bowled was incredible, it was coming too fast at the slip cordon too. (On second innings batting) My intent was the same, I wanted to play out the new ball and build my innings.”
