‘Jald bazzi , aaram se ipl me aata’ – Fans react as Jasprit Bumrah named in ODI squad for Sri Lanka series

Team India’s ODI team for the forthcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka now includes speedster Jasprit Bumrah. The bowler was not originally included in the squad but was added after the National Cricket Academy (NCA) determined that he was match-fit. In September 2022, Bumrah last played during the home series against Australia. He apparently made his injury worse during the second Twenty20 international in Nagpur and hasn’t played since. He wasn’t able to recover in time to play in the 20-20 World Cup in Australia last year, so Mohammad Shami took his place in the lineup.

Regarding the pacer’s return to the national team, the Indian Cricket Board issued a succinct statement. The press announcement stated: “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has included pacer Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming Mastercard 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.”

Jasprit Bumrah to make his comeback in Sri Lanka series

“Bumrah was out of cricketing action since September 2022 and was also ruled out of the 20-20 World Cup due to a back injury. The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon,” the committee added.

As he continues to rehabilitate from the injuries, the pacer was recently spotted traveling to Paris with his wife. The pacer, who is anticipated to be among the 20-man shortlist for the 2023 ODI World Cup, will be the center of attention.

Following his absence from the T20I series, Rohit Sharma is anticipated to lead the team once more. Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, among others, are absent, while veteran players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are included.

At the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, the three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka will get underway on January 10. The remaining games will be played in Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram.
