‘I could get heaps of wickets’ – Jasprit Bumrah opens up on challenge to ‘Bazball’ ahead of Test series vs England
Rohit Sharma and Co. are all set to face England in the five matches of the Test series set to start on January 25 in Hyderabad. Notably, Team India is yet to get the win against England in home soil conditions, as they lost the series when the English side toured back in 2012 for the Test series.
However, India’s star cricketer, Jasprit Bumrah, has recently opened up about the Bazball Challenge in the series. The 30-year-old cricketer reveals that he does not understand the Bazball approach; however, he is ready to take a challenge by taking the maximum wickets in the series. In addition, the great seamer accepted that the attacking side has a great approach to batting, and he will do his best to dismantle their batting line-up in the Test series.
“I don’t really relate to the term Bazball. But they are playing successful cricket and the aggressive route of taking the opposition on, showing the world there’s another way to play Test cricket. As a bowler, what I think is that it keeps me in play. And if they’re going for it, playing so fast, they won’t tire me out, I could get heaps [of wickets]. I always think about how I can use things to my advantage. Kudos to them but, as a bowler, you’re in the game,” Jasprit Bumrah was quoted as saying in an interview with The Guardian.
It’s not ideal but that’s the job, you have to move on: Jasprit Bumrah
Meanwhile, the right-arm pacer also talks about his emotions after losing the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. In addition, the Mumbai Indians star feels it was difficult for him to move on and focus on the next marquee event.
“I was at home, we’d won every game … you can’t just say it’s part of the game. It hurt. And it should hurt; we worked very hard, played good cricket. It’s not ideal but that’s the job, you have to move on … in six months there’s another [T20] World Cup,” he added further.
