‘Paiso kae liye kuch bhi bolo’ – Fans react as Justin Langer showers praise on IPL, compares it to Olympics after joining LSG
Former Australia head coach Justin Langer has recently opened up about the Indian Premier League, which is slated to take place from March to May next year. Notably, Justin Langer has been appointed as the new head of LSG after former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir parted ways with the franchise to join KKR ahead of the IPL 2024.
The former great cricketer has revealed his talks with Tom Moody and Ricky Ponting and opened up about his coaching skills in the tournament. Notably, LSG has been able to reach the playoffs in IPL 2022 and IPL 2023, but suffered defeats in the eliminator clash against RCB and MI, respectively.
“Having sat with Ricky Ponting for so long he talked about his time with the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. How much he loves the tournament. Tom Moody, one of my best friends, he’s been so involved in the IPL and just to hear them talking about it,” Justin Langer said on a video uploaded by the LSG.
The IPL is like the Olympic Games: Justin Langer
However, the former opening batter opened up about his talks with the LSG owner and how he motivated him to win the title for LSG in the upcoming edition. Meanwhile, the 53-year-old cricketer heaps praise on the IPL tournament and compares the event with the Olympics. The left-handed batter is extremely excited to be part of LSG in IPL 2024.
“He is a really good salesman the boss, because the last thing he said to be was you know, Justin, you’ve had a great playing career, you’ve had a very very good coaching career but you can’t consider yourself a great coach until you’ve won the IPL. The IPL is like the Olympic Games. It is so big. Every game is a spectacle, it is so well received, it is so well supported, not just at the stadiums, but all through India and around the world. To have the opportunity to be a part of that is something I am very, very excited about,” he further added.
