‘Kitna petrol mein ye deal fix huyi?’ – Fans troll India as they are set to play their Asia Cup 2023 fixtures in UAE
The Pakistan Cricket Board is actively working to resolve the Asia Cup issue after failing to do so at the most recent ACC meeting. Last year, India refused to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, which put PCB in a difficult situation. Jay Shah, the Indian Cricket Board secretary and chairman of the Asian Cricket Council, made the announcement.
According to sources inside the Board, the PCB may have found a resolution as Pakistan may continue to serve as the host and India may be offered the opportunity to play its matches in the UAE, where some games will be played (PCB).
As Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to organize the Asia Cup there, the country hasn’t hosted a multi-nation event in a very long time. Speaking to the media on Thursday about the venue, PCB president Najam Sethi stated that additional discussions about the hosting of the Asia Cup ODI competition will take place next month on the grounds of a Cricket Governing Body’s meeting as the issue “remained unresolved”.
A shift of venue has been postponed till March: Indian Cricket Board official
“What can I say about what happened in the Asian Cricket Council board meeting? There was no resolution,” Sethi opined when asked if Pakistan will host the tournament in September.
However, the sources that the situation claimed while Pakistan would continue to host the Asia Cup, certain matches will also take place in the UAE, where India may play all of its games, including the final game if they qualify for that.
“Sethi made it clear at the ACC meeting that PCB wants to host the event and some of the matches at home,” the source said.
The reports earlier asserted this month that UAE, with three venues — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah — are the front-runners to host the competition, but for the time being, a decision has been postponed.
“A shift of venue has been postponed till March. But be rest assured that with India not going to Pakistan, the tournament will have to be shifted,” a senior Indian Cricket Board official was quoted as saying.
Here’s how fans reacted to the decision:
