‘Kya soch ke isko third umpire banaya hai’- Twitter lashes out at third umpire over controversial dismissal of Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya’s controversial dismissal in the ongoing first ODI between India and New Zealand is definitely going to be a big talking point after the game. Pandya and Gill were taking the game away from the visitors with a handy 5th-wicket partnership.

However, the Blackcaps were handed the wicket of Hardik Pandya in the 40th over via a controversial dismissal. Both Pandya and the Indian team were gutted after umpire gave the former out.

Daryl Mitchell bowled one angling into the right-hander and there wasn’t much room to play the cut. Besides, the extra bounce on that delivery meant he missed it completely.

The ball reached the hands of the keeper but before that, the bails came off, following which New Zealand appealed for a bowled dismissal. The replays suggested that it was the gloves that disturbed the bails. However, the umpire gave it as out, which left everyone stunned.

The fans are expressing their disappointment on social media for the controversial decision. Here’s a look at some of the reactions on the same:

Despite the wicket, India have reached a formidable score on the board. At the time of writing, they have scored 297 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Shubman Gill has played another sensational knock with the bat. He is currently unbeaten on 168 off 135 balls.

However, the other batsmen were guilty of not converting the starts into big scores. Rohit Sharma looked good for his 38-ball 34 but, once again, ruined the start he got. Virat Kohli got out bowled early after scoring just 8 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav (5) also had a rare bad outing with the bat.

Hardik Pandya and Gill led a great recovery until the controversial dismissal took place in the 40th over. Shubman Gill is taking the team forward at the moment. It will be interesting to see how much the Men in Blue end up posting at the end of the first innings.
