‘Lagta hai Ambani ECB ko hi khardlega’ – Fans react as Mumbai Indians is set to offer Jofra Archer full-time deal worth more than 10 Crores

Jofra Archer may have returned to England without completing his term with Mumbai Indians (MI) but that doesn’t mean that he is out of the franchise’s plans. A report has claimed that MI is eyeing to get his services on a long-term basis and are set to offer him a multi-million-pound contract.

Dailymail.co.uk has reported that Archer is set to be offered a year-round contract by the Mumbai-based franchise. Under the rules of the contract, England would require MI’s permission to get the services of Archer in international cricket.

Not one, the MI family has five franchises (including one WPL team) in different leagues. Archer is presently part of MI-owned franchises in IPL and SA20. Archer might represent the MI-owned franchises in all four leagues if he signs a year-long deal with the franchise.

Alex Haleas approached by franchises for long-term contract

There is still no official update regarding this and it remains to be seen if Archer agrees to a full-time deal with the franchise. The right-arm pacer hasn’t played much cricket in the past two years. He made his comeback to the game in SA20 earlier this year but has only played 11 matches since then.

Archer has already returned home from his ongoing IPL tenure due to an elbow injury. Archer is back in England for rehabilitation ahead of the Ashes series. Archer hasn’t played Test cricket since February 2021.

Archer was bought by MI for Rs 8 crore in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. MI knew that Archer won’t be available for IPL 2022. Despite that, the franchise spent a huge sum on the pacer. The right-arm pacer only featured in five matches of IPL 2023 before returning home.

The report in dailymail.co.uk also states that Alex Hales has also been approached by the franchises for an extended agreement. Hales returned to international cricket during the 20-20 World Cup in 2022.
