‘Look for another ultimate prize’ – Rohit Sharma keen to face South Africa for two-match Test series

Team India is all set to face South Africa in the two matches of the Test series slated to commence on December 26 in Centurion. Notably, the series is set to mark the comeback of skipper Rohit Sharma. The 36-year-old skipper was last seen in action during the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia, where the hosts suffered a humiliating loss on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was seen giving his interview for the first time ahead of the two matches of the Test series. The star cricketer reveals that it is very hard for him to move on from the ODI World Cup 2023 loss. Notably, the Men in Blue performed extremely well in the league stage, with nine out of nine wins; however, they outclassed New Zealand as well before Australia destroyed Team India.

Rohit Sharma reveals that it was hard to move on, however much he wanted to. However, the opening batter says that people and his colleagues have backed him enough to move on from the final loss. Meanwhile, Team India never won the Test series against South Africa, and they are set to hunt for their first win in Test cricket. Team India last travelled to South Africa in 2021, where Virat Kohli-led India lost the Test series by 1-2.

It wasn’t easy to digest, but yeah, life moves on: Rohit Sharma

“I had no idea how to come back from this (loss in the World Cup final) the first few days…my family, my friends kept me going, kept things pretty light around me, which was quite helpful,” Rohit Sharma said being quoted by NDTV Sports.

” It wasn’t easy to digest, but yeah, life moves on. You have to move on in life. It was just pure love from the people that I met and it was wonderful to see that. So, you know, it gives you motivation to get back and start working again and look for another ultimate prize,” he added further.
