Mohammed Shami picks ‘best batter in world,’ ‘most dangerous batter’ and ‘greatest India captain’
India’s star cricketer, Mohammed Shami, has recently picked up India’s best and most dangerous batter in cricketing history. Notably, the right-arm pacer has picked up Virat Kohli as the best batter in the world, whereas he named Indian captain Rohit Sharma as the most dangerous batter in the world. The great seamer, however, is not part of Team India, as he has been sidelined after the ODI World Cup 2023 owing to grave injuries.
Mohammed Shami has named Virat Kohli the best batter due to his record-breaking skills. Notably, the 35-year-old cricketer has recently broken Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record of hammering ODI centuries. However, the great seamer has named MS Dhoni as the best skipper in cricket history owing to the milestones he has achieved for the national side.
“Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world. Virat has just broken a lot of records. I feel Virat is the best. And Rohit Sharma is the most dangerous batter in the world. Look, it is a tough question. These things start with comparisons, but you will say that the most successful one (is the best captain). So for me, it is MS Dhoni because no one has been as successful as him,” Mohammed Shami said in an interview with News18.
You have to look at the overall picture, you have to go back to 2013 and 2014: Mohammed Shami
Meanwhile, India’s star cricketer Mohammed Shami has also opened up about his ODI World Cup 2023 performance, where he was the leading wicket-taker despite not playing the first four matches. The 33-year-old cricketer revealed that his journey started back in 2013–2014, which helped him become the most lethal bowler in the ODI World Cup 2023.
“People talk about the performance of the bowlers during the World Cup, but, if you have to look at the overall picture, you have to go back to 2013 and 2014. That is where the journey started. If we look at the facts now, we only had three fast bowlers performing in the World Cup this time, which makes us believe that we have set the benchmark for future bowlers,” he added further.
