‘I think everyone should enjoy each other’s success’ – Mohammed Shami reveals India’s success has kept him inspired on sidelines of ODI World Cup 2023
India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami’s 5-wicket haul guided India to win the game against New Zealand by 4 wickets on October 22 at HPCA in Dharamshala. Notably, the Men in Blue restricted the Black Caps to just 273; however, Rohit Sharma and Co chased down the total with 12 balls to spare. India’s star cricketer Mohammed Shami, who played his first game of the ODI World Cup 2023, has expressed his emotions over being benched in the first four games.
The right-arm pacer reveals that it was very difficult for him at the time when he wasn’t playing the game. In addition, the 33-year-old reveals that he wasn’t feeling bad about it, as his side was performing well and winning the games. The Gujarat Titans bowlers feel everyone should enjoy each other’s success.
“When you are not playing, it is very difficult. But if your team is performing, your boys are moving in a rhythm, then I don’t think you should feel guilty sitting outside. Because you are also a part of the team and a part of the World Cup. I think everyone should enjoy each other’s success,” Mohammed Shami told reporters.
Because in India the biggest sport is cricket: Mohammed Shami
Moreover, the fast bowler believes in enjoying the game whether he is on the bench or not. The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer accepted that it’s not necessary to play in all games, as only 11 can get the chance while the other four have to sit out of the game. Furthermore, the great seamer feels one can get a better result by enjoying and remaining positive in the game.
“Personally, I keep my outlook as – you keep enjoying. Because in India the biggest sport is cricket. The biggest place is the place where you are sitting. It’s not necessary to be there (in the playing XI). You have 15 players. Four of them have to stay out. So, by being positive and enjoying, I feel you will get more results,” he added further.
