‘Naachne ke time nhi pain hota isko’ – Fans troll Shreyas Iyer as he’s ruled out of ongoing 4th BGT Test and likely to miss ODI series as well

Currently, India is playing the fourth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad. For the third time in the series, the visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. The Aussies made no changes to their playing XI from the third Test, while the hosts brought in Mohammed Shami in place of Mohammad Siraj, who has not performed that well in this series.

Star India batter Shreyas Iyer didn’t come to bat for India in the first innings on Sunday, March 13 as he was getting treatment for his lower-back injury, and later on the day, he was ruled out of the last Test match of the series. The Indian Cricket Board said that he has been sent for scans after he “complained of pain in his lower back following the third day’s play”.

Iyer’s injury will be a big loss for the Rohit Sharma-led side as the Kolkata franchise skipper is going through his back problem for the last few weeks because of which he missed the three-match ODI series against New Zealand and then he missed the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which was played at Nagpur.

Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli’s ton gives India lead

After the Test and ODI series against Australia, Iyer is set to lead the Kolkata franchise in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League, which is scheduled to kick off on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The first match will be played between Gujarat and the Chennai franchise. The Kolkata franchise will lock horns against the Punjab franchise in their opening fixture on April 1 at Mohali.

Earlier, in response to Australia’s mammoth total of 480, India scored 571 runs before losing nine wickets just before the end of play on Day 4. Star India batter, Shreyas Iyer was having problems in his back and hence, he didn’t come to bat. Former India skipper Virat Kohli and opener Shubman Gill led the charge for the Indian batting line-up.

A marvellous century was scored by both Kohli and Gill. Kohli scored 186 runs off 364 balls, which included 15 fours. On the other hand, the 23-year-old scored 128 runs off 235 balls with 12 boundaries and a six.

For the visitors, three wickets each were grabbed by the off-spin duo of Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy. Both the spinner bowled the majority of the overs. Lyon bowled 65 overs, while, Murphy bowled 45.5 overs. One wicket each was also snapped by seamer Mitchell Starc and young Matthew Kuhnemann.
