‘Nahi to main uda dunga’- Ishan Kishan reveals honest chat with Virat Kohli that led to his double century against Bangaldesh

Ishan Kishan has written his name into the history books with his sensational 210 in the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh. The southpaw took just 126 balls to bring out the fastest double century in an ODI match.

The southpaw battered every Bangladesh bowler to get to this magnificent achievement and has impressed all. With this double century, he has also laid a claim to India’s opening slot now that Shikhar Dhawan is struggling with form and Rohit Sharma injured.

After the game, the 24-year-old had an honest conversation about his knock with Shubman Gill, the video of which was posted by the Indian Cricket Board’s official Twitter handle.

The video starts off with Gill asking, “So Ishan how does it feel to first hundred into a big one?” Kishan says, “Obviously it feels very good to have my name with so many legends like Sachin paji, Viru paji and so many other players, Rohit bhai.”

Intrigued by his conversation with Virat Kohli, Gill asks, “Jab you were close to 200, you had a chat with Virat bhai, what was the chat about?”

“Maine pahle bola ki bhaiya please meko bolte rahiye single lene ke liye main uda dunga warna aage badh ke, mujhe andar se bahut wo ho raha hai (brother please tell me to take singles otherwise I will come out and hit one in the air, I’m feeling very excited).”

If the wicket is nice, why play with shackles- Ishan Kishan

Gill then asked if he had gone to play determined to play the fastest double hundred to which Kishan replied, “Nahi main soch ke nahi gaya tha. Main apne aapko seedha 90 pe dekha aur uske baad apne aapko calm down kiya. Fir seedha 146 pe dekha fir seedha 190 pe dekha. Main kuchh soch nahi raha tha, mujhe laga wicket itni achhi hai to jabardashti ruk ke kyun khelna Aur itni achhi situation hai to maar ke khelo (I hadn’t come determined. I saw myself at 90 and then at 146 and then at 190. I wasn’t thinking anything, I just thought if the wicket is nice, why play with shackles? The situation was perfect so I played aggressively).”
