Narendra Modi Stadium to break the MCG’s record of single day attendance on opening day of 4th BGT Test against Australia

Despite the fact that the series had already been won, the 2013–14 Ashes match at the MCG set the record for the largest Test cricket crowd ever with  91,112 spectators. After winning the third match in Indore, Australia will try to tie the series at 2-2 during the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy match. Prime Ministers of both countries, Narendra Modi and Anthony Albanese will be present on the first day of the Ahmedabad Test.

On his first visit to India, Mr. Albanese will be accompanied by a number of significant Australian businessmen, such as Qantas CEO Alan Joyce, Fortescue Metals CEO Andrew Forrest, and Commonwealth Bank CEO Matt Comyn. Mr. Albanese has planned to spend roughly an hour at the Ahmedabad stadium before heading for additional activities in Mumbai and Delhi. In February 2020, the stadium in the state capital of Gujarat, India, reopened following a nearly five-year reconstruction.

India lost only 2 matches at Narendra Modi Stadium

When Donald  Trump initially arrived in India, there was an incident at the stadium when he notably mispronounced the names of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar while giving a speech. At the National Games at the end of last year, the stadium was also full.

Before India vs. England Tests in 2021, the stadium, which was formerly known as the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, was renamed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s honour. Fans won’t have much expectation that the last game of the series would end the trend of shortened Tests after those two games, the only Tests played at the venue since 2012.

The third match of the 2021 series was a day-nighter that did not even last through day two as India defeated England in the fourth Test in the final session of day three by a margin of 10 wickets. Two Tests, three ODIs, and seven T20s have been played at the refurbished stadium, and India’s men’s side has only lost two of the 12 games.
