Nathan Lyon gives brutal Gabba reminder when asked about Cheteshwar Pujara’s 100 Tests

At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the second match of the four-match Test series is taking place between India and Australia. Both the teams are going head to head and it is turning out to be a great encounter between the two teams. A win is important for both teams in the context of the Test Championship.

During the match, the star-studded Indian batting order was cleaned up by the Australian spinners, led by the leader of the pack, Nathan Lyon. With his 22nd five-wicket haul, Lyon propelled Australia’s comeback and once again demonstrated the Indian batter’s weakness to spin bowlers.

In his 24th Border-Gavaskar Trophy match, the Australian spin wizard completed a five-wicket haul in the first innings. The off-spinner dismissed KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, KS Bharat and Shreyas Iyer earlier in the day. The right-arm off-spinner has eight five-wicket hauls against the Men in Blue along with one 10-wicket haul.

‘Fairytales don’t come the way you like’ – Nathan Lyon on Pujara completing 100 Tests

Indian team’s warrior Cheteshwar Pujara is playing his 100th Test for his country. But Nathan Lyon spoke to the media about how his 100th Test didn’t have a fairytale ending. He said, “Well, Gabba was my 100th Test. My dream of defending 300 at the Gabba was also shattered,” he said in the presser. “I know it is his 100th Test. Fairytales don’t come the way (you) like. But over the years, I have had some unbelievable battles with Pujara. It’s been pretty amazing.”

Lyon then spoke about his game plan in Delhi. He said, “Bowling around the wicket in this game, I’m still trying to target off stump. That’s my goal. If you understand cricket, you will understand what I am trying to do and trying to get them defending because we know how good the Indian batters are. If I can make them defend, hopefully, I’ll create a few chances here and there.”
