Australia’s veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon broke the backbone of team India as he grabbed four wickets in the first session of Day 2, which included the likes of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer Lyon’s first wicket was of a struggling Rahul. He got out on the 18th over. In his next over, he got the wicket of the Men in Blue skipper Rohit, who scored a century in the first Test at Nagpur.

The 37-year-old got a length ball but this time around and the ball didn’t turn. He tried to play it on the back foot and for the turn. The ball, however, stayed low and went along the line of delivery to hit the stumps. “Caught in no man’s land,” said Ravi Shastri who was in the commentary box.

Lyon’s next wicket was Pujara who was playing the 100th Test of his international career. He got dismissed in the same fashion in which Rahul was given out. Earlier bajara was not out but wicketkeeper Alex carry asked the skipper, Pat Cummins to take the review. Then the review was overturned, and Pujara was given out.

However the 4th cricket for the Lyon was a lucky one. More than lions wicket it was Peter Handscomb’s wicket as he took a stunner to dismiss Iyer at short leg.

After the end of 48 overs, team India is in deep trouble as their top and middle order which includes the likes of Rohit, Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Shreyas Iyer. The team’s score is 126 runs with a loss of five wickets. Virat Kohli is batting on 37 runs, whereas India’s wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat is yet to open his account.

Earlier, Australia was bundled out for a score of 263 runs. The highest run scorer for the visitors was Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb. Khawaja scored 81 runs, which included 12 boundaries and a six. Handscomb scored unbeaten 72 runs, which included nine boundaries.

For the hosts, the wicket-takers in the first innings were Mohammad Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja. Shami took four wickets, whereas spinners Ashwin and Jadeja grabbed three each. Shami’s figure after the completion of the first innings was 14.4-4-60-4 and on the other side, the spinning duo’s figures were 21-4-57-3 and 21-2-68-3.
