‘It could be possible to defeat them’ – Netherlands all-rounder’s bold and audacious claim ahead of their clash against unbeaten India
The Netherlands cricket team is all set to take on Team India in their last and final game of the ODI World Cup 2023, slated to take place on November 12 at M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru. Notably, the Dutch team that had qualified for the marquee event after a gap of 12 years is currently out of the semi-final race following their 160-run loss against England on November 8 at MCA in Pune.
However, Netherlands all-rounder Teja Nidamanuru is hopeful of beating the hosts in their last and final game. The 29-year-old cricketer says that their side has good spinners as well as good cricketers in the team, which can help in defeating the Men in Blue. Moreover, the stylish right-handed batsman feels that cricket is a funny game and anything can happen during the game.
“It’s a game of cricket, right? So, it could be possible (defeating India). We play our brand of cricket. We do what we do well. We’ve got some great manoeuvres of the ball. We’ve got guys who can play spin well. We’ve also got guys who can take wickets. It just obviously you need a bit of luck. There’s no doubt that they’re a very strong team and they’ve been playing very good cricket. But funnier things have happened in the game,” Teja Nidamanuru said ahead of the clash.
It’s another opportunity for us to play against India: Teja Nidamanuru
The middle-order batsman is extremely excited to play against the best and the top team in the marquee event. Moreover, the off-spinner reveals that they always try to give their best with great skill sets in the game.
“To arguably play the best team in the competition at the top of the table is something that we’re very excited by and it’s another opportunity for us. Every time we step on the park, we’re trying to showcase our skills and do the best that we can, especially being at the World Cup and coming through the journey that we’ve done,” he added further.
