‘ Number 6 aa raha hain’- Fans react as India qualify for U19 World Cup 2024 final after defeating South Africa

The India U19 team has been playing some great cricket recently and is still undefeated in the tournament. Uday Saharan and his boys will be happy that they have reached the finals where they will be playing either Australia or Pakistan after beating South Africa in a thrilling semi-final game. The Indians did have South Africa struggling at 163-4 at one stage of the game on a wicket that was giving the pacers enough extra bounce and seam movement. But the knocks Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Richard Seletswane along with some cameos down the order made sure they get to a competitive total of 244 at the end of 50 overs.

At first, the Indian innings were looking in trouble at 32-4 with pacer Kwena Maphaka and Tristan Luus creating havoc in the Indian top order. It all seemed like a South African victory until the Indian middle order went on to get the Indians close to the target and finally got the victory with a winning shot from Raj Limbani and won the game by 2 wickets. This was the only game where the Indian u19 team was tested to their limit with most of their star batters Musheer Khan and Arshin Kulkarni failing on the occasion. They will be ready for the final on the 11th of February in Benoni where they either face the Aussies or their arch rivals.

Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas to the rescue

India was in trouble going into the 2nd innings where they lost their first four wickets in quick succession. It was the 5th wicket partnership between skipper Uday Saharan and  Sachin Dhas that was the game-changing moment of the innings. Sachin Dhas was the one who played most of the attacking shots and went on to score 96 from just 95 deliveries, whereas Saharan held himself on the other end with his knock of 81 from 124 deliveries. These two batters made a big difference in a match where most of the batters failed to make decent contributions.

The Indians are still undefeated in the tournament and will have all the confidence in the world going into the final. They have already faced their first major obstacle against the South African side and now is the time they show the same spirit in the final as well. The sixth title is just one win away and this will be a great moment for this young Indian team. The next match will also look to be a thrilling match and India’s opponent will be known in the second semi-final on the 8th of February. The team’s eyes will be on the trophy once again in this great tournament.
