‘Paisa logon se kya kya karwata hai babu bhaiya’ – Fans troll Rohit Sharma over his appearance in Indian T20 League promo
The 16th edition of the Indian T20 League is all set to kick off on March 31. The opening fixture of the tournament will be played between the Chennai franchise and the Gujarat franchise at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday. The Indian T20 League will have two separate broadcasters for the first time in its history, thanks to Viacom18’s purchase of the streaming rights.
Recently, in a video posted by Star Sports network on their social media handle, the Mumbai franchise skipper Rohit Sharma was seen dancing for the Indian T20 League’s promo. The broadcasters were hoping for a certain kind of response, but they did not get it. In the video, Rohit is seen dancing in the video to the brand-new Indian T20 League anthem. Fans appreciate Rohit’s footwork as a batter, but many were not happy to see him dancing on television.
Fans criticized the Men in Blue skipper and the broadcasters for creating a “cringe” advertisement for the upcoming season of the Indian T20 League because they did not like the new video, which featured Rohit dancing to the new Indian T20 League song.
Mumbai franchise poor performance in Indian T20 League 2022
Both as captain and a batter, Rohit had a terrible season in Indian T20 League last year. The skipper of the Mumbai side was only able to score 268 runs, averaging 19.14, in 14 games. Mumbai were last on the points table with eight points as Rohit and company struggled to score with the bat.
Injuries to the Mumbai franchise‘s top players were one of the main reasons for their poor performance the previous season. Last year, Suryakumar Yadav and Jofra Archer were both out with injuries for the whole of the Indian T20 League season.
Even before the event begins this year, the Mumbai team’s two main pacers, Jasprit Bumra, and Jhye Richardson were pulled out because of injuries. Due to the absence of key players, they will have to perform at the top of their game to make the playoffs this season.
