‘Paise ka chakkar Babu bhaiya’ – Fans react as Mithali Raj reportedly is set to come out of retirement for Women’s Indian T20 League
The two legends of Indian cricket, Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami have signed up for the auction before the first Women’s Indian T20 League season. According to claims by the Hindustan Times, the former skipper of India and the pace spearhead team of Mithali and Jhulan have made themselves available to play in the elite league.
As both of them have prominently represented India while playing for the national side, the news of the two seasoned cricketers would undoubtedly give the competition a huge boost. Before announcing her retirement from all forms last June, Mithali played her final T20I match against England in 2019.
Women’s Indian T20 League to take place in March
The tall bowler gave a pretty polite statement regarding his participation in the league in 2022.
“As of now, I haven’t decided because so far, the Women’s Indian T20 League has not been officially announced. We are hopeful that it might come in the coming season. Let’s wait for the official announcement and then I will decide. At this moment, I am ending my career in international cricket. I have enjoyed every time,” said Jhulan.
The 20-20 league will surely provide a fantastic platform for both domestic and international players to get exposure and improve their skills. Many young cricketers will look forward to sharing the changing rooms with Jhulan and Mithali and playing under their guidance in order to gain experience if the stories about their participation in the event are to be true.
It is believed that the season would start in March and that games will be held in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Additionally, the auction for the first edition is anticipated to happen in early February.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Indian T20 League teams like the Mumbai franchise, Chennai franchise, Kolkata franchise, Rajasthan franchise, Hyderabad franchise, Punjab franchise, and Gujarat franchise are interested in making proposals for teams in this league.
Here’s how Twitter responded to the player’s probable inclusion in the Women’s Indian T20 League:

Good decision by her. Women's IPL is revolutionary change in Women's cricket all over the globe and Mithali Raj is one of the greatest and it would have been unfair if she wouldn't take part on it.

Yeah.. she wouldnt want to miss out on money , which she actually deserved during her playing days..
But i think she will go down the vvs laxman route in WIPL , unless she finds something new in her to have a relevant t20 Strike rate..— Indian Cricket Fan (@IndCricketFan) January 16, 2023
She hasn't taken retirement from franchise cricket only for international cricket
