‘Player for a reason’ – Fans react as SRH acquires Pat Cummins, second most expensive buy in IPL history at Rs 20.50 Cr

Australia skipper Pat Cummins has become second most expensive player in the history of the IPL after he was brought to Sunrises Hyderabad in 20.5 crores in the IPL 2024 auction on December 19 in Dubai. Notably, the right-arm seamer possesses the match-winning abilities that attracted SRH owner Kavya Maran to get him into her franchise.

Notably, SRH had an awful edition in IPL 2024 despite spending the most amount in the auction. The franchise finished at the bottom of the points table in the last edition, but they seemed determined for the upcoming edition. Meanwhile, SRH also got Travis Head for 6.8 crores, while they also got Wanindu Hasaranga for 1.5 crores in their franchise for the next IPL.

Meanwhile, Pat Cummins was the winning skipper of the World Test Championship Final and the ODI World Cup 2023 Final after defeating a strong Indian side in the final game to win the title. Moreover, the right-arm seamer also proved the batting order in the lower order, which will be a big boost for SRH in the IPL 2024.

Meanwhile, there was a fierce bidding war between Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, and Chennai Super Kings for Pat Cummins; however, Sunrises Hyderabad had brought him for the whooping amount of 20.5 crores.
