‘We won’t have much cricket as a team anymore….’ – Rahul Dravid opens up on India’s biggest concern ahead of T20 World Cup 2024

Team India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, opens up about the T20 World Cup 2024 squad selection after the Afghanistan series. Notably, the marquee event is set to start on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA, and the management is working with the players to figure out their best playing XI for the thrilling tournament.

The Men in Blue had recently won the Afghanistan series, and they do not have any series in short format ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid was happy as some players put up their hands to win the Afghanistan series. The legendary cricketer revealed that they are trying different combinations, like the ODI World Cup 2023, to find their best players. However, the former Indian skipper also talks about the importance of the IPL and how it will help them pick the squad for the forthcoming event.

“We’ve had different people play after the last ODI World Cup for a variety of reasons. But I think it’s just nice to see that there are some options (ahead of the World Cup) who have put their hand up, and certainly shown that they’ve got skills to address. Some areas we might need some addressing in, and we were thinking about it. Unfortunately, we really won’t have much cricket as a team anymore. We will obviously have the IPL, and you know, everyone will be watching closely to see how some of those guys play and what are the slots we need to fill in the team,” Rahul Dravid said being quoted by NDTV Sports.

Shivam Dube is certainly very much an improved player after coming back: Rahul Dravid

Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid gave an indirect hint that Shivam Dube can be a part of the playing T20 World Cup 2024, slated to take place with a few months to go, owing to his great all-round performance in the Afghan series.

“He’s come back after a long time. He’s certainly very much an improved player after coming back. There’s no doubt that he always had the talent, but just really happy to see the way he performed in the series,’ he added further.
