‘It’s not something that we would consider……..’ – Rahul Dravid opens up on Ishan Kishan’s return from break

India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, has provided a big update on Ishan Kishan’s comeback in the national squad. Notably, the stylish left-handed batter opted for a break during the South Africa tour, where he went on to miss the tour along with the Afghanistan series and the England series. However, the southpaw was last seen in action during the India vs. Australia T20I series.

Team India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, has finally opened up about Ishan Kishan’s return. Notably, the former India skipper accepted that they were happy to give him a break. However, the former batting legend reveals that the top-order batter needs to play some cricket before making his comeback in the squad for Team India.

“The point was that you know, he requested a break. We were happy to give him a break and whenever he was ready… I didn’t say he has to play domestic cricket. I said, whenever he’s ready he needs to play some cricket and come back, and the choice is his,” Rahul Dravid said after the win over England in the second Test.

We’re not forcing Ishan Kishan to do anything and we are in touch with him: Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid further says that they are not forcing him to do anything, and the management is in touch with him. In addition, the former right-handed batter accepted that the board couldn’t consider him as he had not started playing so far. The 51-year-old head coach also opened up about selectors, focusing on their options as well.

“We’re not forcing him to do anything and we are in touch with him. It’s not that we’re not in touch. We know what it is, but he hasn’t yet started playing, right? So, at the moment, it’s not something that we would consider because, you know, he’s maybe not ready. He decides when he wants to be ready and we’ve got options obviously with Rishabh [Pant] injured and stuff. So I’m sure the selectors will weigh all the options,” he added further.
